"Spectacle" has the most original concept and setting of stories that I have read in years. To set a fantasy in real life without explaining it away as some supernatural event, but setting it into science is brilliant and challenges the reader. This story is such a fun ride because of the historical concepts that are not something I have seen or heard before. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out it changes subtly. This kept me wishing I could read faster to get to the next twist. I always wanted to know what Old Paris was like and this novel definitely takes me there with well thought out facts and locations that are fun to research along the way. I truely hope many people love "Spectacle" as much as I do! Highly Recommend. Especially a hard cover as well because it sets the mood being able to read history by candle or low light. Enjoy!

Fans of fantasy, thrillers, and historical fantasy are going to absolutely love SPECTACLE by Jodie Lynn Zdrok. I was astounded by the turn of events 75% of the way through. I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I thought I had the whole thing figured out, but Zdrok proved to be a masterful storyteller. She got me!!! Her writing is dark--the detail of the bodies in the morgue is haunting--and the descriptions of Paris in 1887 made me feel like I was right there with Nathalie running through the Catacombs or enjoying a pain au chocolat in a cafe. Highly recommend!

Spectacle is a beautifully written Fantasy thriller. The historical detail in this novel made me feel like I was in Paris with the main character! The author introduced twists and turns at all the right times, all of them pleasantly unexpected. The fantasy layer worked really well with the story - there was just enough magic and it wasn’t too unbelievable. I look forward to reading future books by this author!

This story is amazing! I loved every second of it! It was dark, mysterious, & kept the mind going! Just when you’d think you know what will happen next there’s a twist and it goes in a completely different direction! Jodie Lynn Zdrok’s writing is great and I really enjoyed reading her work! She created this great story with characters that were all enjoyable! The Paris setting for the novel also brings a feeling to the story!

This is not normally the type of book I would choose to read, however I am so glad I did. Loved every chapter, had a very hard time putting my kindle away between chapters. Knowing the author, Jodie, made reading this story even more special.

Spectacle provides the reader a canvas painted with the daily life of 1880's Paris, captivating and exciting the reader throughout. Nathalie is a perfect heroine for her day or any day. I can see this story as a movie.

Loved the characters as they evolved! The morgue intrigue with Parisians was unexpected. Can hardly wait to see what comes next!

Informative.

Going on a low salt diet I bought 3 low salt cookbooks on Amazon.This was by far the best and I am living by many of the receipts I found in this book.I highly recommend it.

This book is very thoughtful and should be on the shelf of anyone looking to reduce sodium intake. In the first section, the author has a detailed section on nutrition and hidden sources of sodium (for example, did you know that many municipal water supplies have non-negligible levels of sodium?). He also details the staples he uses and where to find them. Each recipe is VERY detailed, in many cases detailing the exact brand of an item used. What's particularly helpful is that the ingredient list details the amount of sodium in each item (so if you substitute you know how to adjust your calculation). Additionally, he tallies the total sodium in the whole recipe, and the sodium per serving - which is nice if you want a larger serving. Most of the recipes fall well below 500mg PER WHOLE RECIPE. Lastly, the book has recipes for everything from condiments and jams to deserts and breads, with many vegetarian recipes. I foresee this becoming my bible as we transition to a low sodium diet.

My husband was found to have an EF of 15% mid June 2017. He is in his 50's and in great shape. I somehow, by the grace of God, stumbled upon this book shortly after. I read the reviews and the author's story. Immediately, my parents and my husband and myself made a complete lifestyle change with an eating plan of around 500mg/day. Three months later, his EF is 41% with an outlook of continued improvement. Thank you David, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing your story to help the rest of us! Just fyi, he is on heart meds and also has attended cardio rehab 3x/week since diagnosis.

I absolutely love this book. It explains a low sodium diet in an easy to understand way. There is a meal plan in the back that's very easy to follow. Starting a big dietary change for medical reasons is so hard to do but this book makes it easy. The recipes DO NOT call for strange ingredients you'd probably never use again or ingredients you're not sure you'd even like....another reason I like this book.The only con...no pictures of any recipes.I don't mind it but others may since most cookbooks printed now days have pictures.

A friend loaned this book to me after my husband had double by-pass surgery. I liked it so much I ordered my own.It has so many recipes and they are regular type recipes that can be used without going to the grocery and purchasing a dozen new items. A very nice cook book.

I just got this book and have started trying a couple things.We tried the Risotto Milanese since we also just got some high quality saffron to try - it was bland and flavorless prior to adding saffron, and after adding it - that was all you could really taste. It took a large amount of parmesan to make it have a good taste, or salt, both of which of course jack up the sodium levels.I've tried a couple of the bread machine recipes too, which have turned out ok. Given it's a low sodium cookbook, don't be surprised when things are lacking flavor. The bread isn't exempt from this, and I find it good enough but the kids are less than thrilled.I was hoping for a little more incorporation of a variety of spices to counter the missing salt. I'm still exploring the book, but haven't found a lot of that yet.Inconsistency - the risotto recipe calls for parmesan, but never tells you when to add it. Mix in? Sprinkle on top when done? Who knows.... It isn't just that recipe. The breads, for example, are not consistent with describing how much you are making. Some say a 1, 1 and 1/2, or 2 lb loaf (used for bread machines), and some don't say. They'll say 1 loaf, a large loaf, a loaf of 14 slices - I mean, c'mon, come up with something consistent to describe these. There is nothing to link these together, so you don't necessarily know what to set your bread machine on. So, some guesswork involved.I'm thinking this book was put together and never proofed thoroughly, or at least no one ever went through and made all the recipes prior to publishing to be sure they made sense.

I am very salt sensitive. By this I mean that whenever I eat out the food may not taste very salty, but afterwards, my mouth tastes as though I have just eaten a teaspoon of salt. Thus, I have to always cook my own food . I was trying to help a friend who is on a salt free diet so I bought the book for suggestions. I do use a lot of herbs, but didn't realize that one could buy salt free mustard and other such things. Right now, my friend has the book.Just by skimming it I found many good suggestions.Most people on a salt free diet use a soy product. However, if you object to GMO's you will not want to do this.

I cannot understand why folks would unfairly criticize this volume. Having delved deeply into the likes of Yeats and Graves, I can attest that the sampling of tales and legends in Glassie is _precisely_ representative of the Irish folk literature. If a reader finds the preponderance of "bar tales" (funny, I couldn't find many, but I don't frequent bars) offensive, perhaps he should choose a less alcohol-infatuated culture than the Irish: I doubt the merest mention of alcohol would grace Inea Bushnaq's collection of Arabic folktales, which is also published by Pantheon. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Meanwhile, if you _truly_ want to be bored and offended, try reading Rolleston's archaic rendering of the myths of the Tuatha de Danann: I can't remember how many times I fell asleep despite being quite the devotee of the mythologies of world's cultures.

This is a fascinating collection of folk tales told by a variety of Irish people from the late 19th to mid 20th centuries. The stories are recorded in the individuals' own words, providing insight into Irish history as far back as the early Irish kings, culture, folklore, superstitions, and even speech patterns. Some of the stories are very amusing, as well.

A collection of irish folktales, written long ago. Learned a lot about banshees, little people, etc.

A wonderful collection of fairy tales from Ireland. Some are short. Some are very long and some are hard to understand while others are super simple.

I have yet to encounter one of the Pantheon folklore series that was not a good read. This is no exception. My regret is that they have not published more and that some of their folklore books seem out of print. I enjoyed this book and I am happy to recommend it. Since my major interest is Celtic folklore, this volume was both welcome and entertaining.

Interesting. For school

My son and I got this book thinking it would cover Irish folklore. A better name would be Irish bar tales... Considering the richness of the Irish storytelling and folklore traditions, this was painful. Most tales were disjointed and not very entertaining. If this is the current oral tradition, then it's already pretty dead. Overall we were not impressed and wish we had returned it. We kept hoping it'd get better. It didn't. Maybe it's of interest to a scholar, but it's not to read for entertainment.

I am currently in the process of creating my own LLC at the time writing this review. The book is very helpful to understand the process and the things I will have to worry about from a legal and also tax perspective. I hired a lawyer for the company creation before I bought the book and have now the feeling that I could be doing it without paying a lawyer. However, the book made me realize that there is a lot of paperwork involved in the process and the lawyer will do all that work for me, which saves me a lot of time.I am currently very busy preparing everything for the daily business operation to come so I do not regret my decision of using a lawyer. If time is not too much of a problem, but saving the cost for a good corporate lawyer is, this book will be able to help you to get the process done by yourself.For people like me, who use a lawyer is the book still helpful, because there are a lot of things to consider and know about, after your LLC was created. It will serve me well in the years to come. I am sure about that.

If you look at the thickness of this book you would think that it contains alot of details about forming a LLC. However, about 1/3 of the book gives information on forming a LLC for each of the 50 states. This book would be better if it would give specific information for a particular state such as Nolo's Quick LLC for the State of Texas. On the brighter side, this book gives a wealth of knowledge and good examples on forming a LLC. If you are looking for an overview of forming and LLC this book would suffice. However, if you are looking for in depth knowledge, this book is not the one that I would recommend.

I had high hopes for this book but it did not meet my expectations. The book does a decent job explaining the difference between an LLC and other entities like C corp, S corp, general partnerships, etc. However, it does not get to the point about (1) steps needed to file an LLC and the common paradigm of filing in Nevada / Delaware and then registering in your home state, (2) choosing where to file for LLC, or (3) ongoing legal and financial care and feeding of the LLC so you do not "pierce the corporate veil." Basically, the book is very light on specifics and does not justify its price. I am returning it, hoping to find a more thorough guide.

I was hoping to be able to set up the LCC with this book, but apparently I needed to get the "How to Form an LLC" book (which I'm NOT going to do). I've read the Nolo California Corporations book and it already covered much of the info here. What I was looking for was help with writing good articles of organization and operating agreement (specifically for a 1-person LLC).The operating agreement example he gives is not specific to a one-person firm. A prudent person might change the language in his example operating agreement to reflect that the LLC is composed of just one person. Also, the book does not cover the fact that in CA you can specify additional info in the Articles, such as rules for admitting new members.Awfully light for "All you need to know".

This got us started on the road to our new biz, but what it lacked was real help filling out the State forms. Nolo has another book that does just that (and I recommend it if you are really looking for help with forms). If you are still in the decision making process as to which type of business you want to have (e.g. partnership, LLC, corporation types) and what it takes to run an LLC, this is one to keep on your shelf. My favorite part of this book, Nolo's Quick LLC, is a great chart delineating the differences between different types of businesses.

The best book I have found to answer those basic LLC questions. Well written with a timely layout of the book's chapters.

This book breaks what you need to know to form an LLC down nicely and easily by chapter. You can skip around if you'd like, but I wanted to make sure I knew everything about the topic and read it straight through. Full of helpful examples to illustrate the concepts just presented. Definitely recommend to others looking to learn about corporate structures and most specifically, the LLC.
