I was initially deterred from buying this book as many reviews states that it was not meant for a beginning grower. I believe that this book is perfect for the beginning grower.Most of the information I got on growing was from Internet forums and Reddit threads. There is definitely useful and practical information found in these media; however there is also a lot of bad information, and annoying Internet personalities.This book is great because it gives scientific information on many aspects of marijuana botany that I would never bother with learning had I not understood the plants life cycle. There are techniques I was executing without understanding the physiologic basis; I was just repeating advice from Internet posters without thinking about the theory.This books is not the easiest read. It would be best understood by someone with a science background. Also, there are some pretty disgusting techniques mentioned in here such as treating soil with formaldehyde in an attempt to sterilize it before planting seeds or clones in it (wit?ayfs).Anyways a great resource for the scientific minded and great for beginners.

This book is pretty old, but the information is still valid. It is more about genetics and the plant in general. Not so much a how to grow book. The main thing I wanted to learn was about breeding, crossbreeding, and creating a stable strain. everything I needed was in this book. It could have been written/updated in an easier to understand presentation, but it will take a little study to comprehend the basic concepts of breeding no matter how it is presented............I highly recommend this if you are looking to understand and play around with creating new strains for what ever properties you want to bring out.

Everything about this book is organized and expressed in a classical scientific but creative manner that makes it easy to read. The information and artistry contained within are indicative of a much more expensive textbook. I would love to have this in a hardcover.

Though, I’d only recommend this to growers who already know what they’re doing &/or hobbyists. It’s not a complicated read, but it’s not gonna teach you how to plant a seed in soil like Jorge Cervantes Grow bible will.

This is it . It’s not how to grow for noobs . Many titles out there . It’s botany cannabis specific . With history and great tips . It’s what you want to absorb.

This book is quite advanced for most growers but the knowledge contained is priceless

A very clear and detailed explanation ( the beautiful drawings especially help in gaining perspective on the intricate process of cannabis growth and cultivation ) that gives a great amount of understanding due to the easy to read style of the author. I found it extremely helpful when I initially became interested in the subject. The downsides I can see about the book are mostly due to the fact that it was written decades ago and perhaps may not be applicable to certain modern-day methods/setups. It is a high level book, presuming that the reader has more than a passing interest in the subject - along with the requisite knowledge for understanding the process of breeding - and also shares the same caring attitude about preservation and propagation. Personally i enjoyed the philosophical aspects of the book almost as much the technical...Highly recommended, in conjunction with a more current look at the subject - "The Cannabis Breeders Bible", the vast amount of internet resources...

Chose this for a young friend who plans to move to Colorado and work in that field. He was delighted. I'm hoping he returns to Mississippi with his company if and when the laws change here.

He's not pushing Roubo; he gives an even-handed reckoning of all the available options and a detailed how-to for each of them. Much cheaper than changing your mind later ! Get the hardcover ; people say the softcover illustrations and photos are unreadable.

Anyone who knows anything about woodworking knows the name of Chris Schwarz. This book was on my list for a while and after buying it, it lived up and surpassed all my expectations. Can't say enough about this book. I got into woodworking initially about two years ago and more seriously this last year. At the moment with the projects Im working on in my garage, Im taking the time to learn what works for me amd what I'll want in the workbench I eventually build. This book will be my primary reference for when I start that project. After its finished thats when I think I'll feel like I've graduated in a sense and be able to think of myself as an actual woodworker. If you're on the fence about buying this book, go ahead, jump down and make the purchase. You'll be glad you did.

Chris Schwarz does a good job of describing how much more useful a simple yet solid woodworking bench is to any woodworker. I was under the impression that the best benches had to include drawers and/or a cabinet, but after having built the Roubo (or French) style bench, l get it. A workbench is for working. Having followed his suggestions as to how a woodworking bench could/should function, I built the Roubo bench and have found a whole new level of enjoyment in woodworking. If you've never built your own woodworking bench, but want to, I recommend this book.

If I could have only one book on work bench design, this would be it. That is not to say I haven't got something out of other books, but this would be the best single book to have. However, it also depends on what you are looking for in a workbench design book. If you are looking for a book of 50 different detailed workbench plans to choose one to build, this book will fall short for you, because it is really a review of principles, then a few representative work benches in detail. However, the book gives the reader the background to choose a workbench that will work for him or her, and improvise on design principles, modifying another design to better suit the reader's needs. The author does sometimes assume that all the terms he uses are well known to the reader, and for me that was not the case. Some of the illustrations/explanations are a little hard to follow, as well, if you are not already familiar with the concept. But overall, this is the single best book on workbench design that I own or have encountered.

This is THE book on workbench design and use. There's simply nothing else quite like it. Yeah, the typesetting is annoyingly small... I guess you can blame the publisher for that. I actually bought and read Chris Schwarz's follow-up book The Workbench Design Book: The Art & Philosophy of Building Better Benches first but I still found this book incredibly useful. If you're even considering building a workbench for woodworking, do yourself a favor and buy this book.

I got this based on Matt Estlea and his recommendation. It is a FANTASTIC resource for anyone getting into woodworking or just wants to know the history or even the practical reasons some workbenches are designed the way that they are. As a new woodworker, it's a must have.

It’s a good book worth reading if you want to learn how to build a solid bench for hand tool use. But for Gawd sakes the text is so tiny it’s hard to read and I am not that old! No idea what Schwarz (especially since he wears thick glasses) or the publisher was thinking. And for that I am knocking off a star. Otherwise content is great, but you will need readers!

Great book that not only gives you detailed plans to make these workbenches, but the history and rationale for making them. Gives you a perspective on the pros and cons of each bench, thus allowing you to decide which is best for you.

I bought this book a few years ago which is the only textbook I could find on satellite communications. Maybe there are other books, those I found either very elementary (pictures showing antenna to receive local station compared to a DishTV antenna) or very complex (physics of astrodynamics). Book discusses various terms used for sat comms and why certain techniques are used, i.e. circlar polarization. I still use it for reference here and there. There are lots of webpages but I find almost all useless as they seem to be mostly copy/paste from some random post on usenet of years ago (and either mistyped or left out key technical points which leads to errors confusing the novice).

I think the title undersells this book. Perhaps it should be called "Satellite Communications for the Systems Engineer". It is a great read that gives an overview of satellite and ground systems for communication. It does go into some technical detail at just the right level to grasp the broad concepts but in no way does it dumb the subject down. Some basic mathematical concepts are covered, like how to perform a link budget. The author was so forward-thinking when he wrote the book, that in 2016 some of the technologies discussed have not yet seen full adoption by the industry. A highly recommended read.

I am so happy that I discovered Patrick Logan. His Damien Drake, Chase Adams and Beckett series are some of the best in the genre. Drug Lord Part II is an unbelievable read and allows the reader to visit with some old and favorite friends!! Once again we meet Screech, Hannah, Leroy, Beckett, Veronica, Jasmine, Yasiv, Dunbar and even the evil Smith and sons! The story goes back and forth between New York and Columbia but the story itself is fluid and one chapter blends into the next. Some of the results are very rewarding and the need for justice realized. I did give the book a 4 instead of a five and for one reason only. Unfortunately since I am not a person who appreciates spoilers in review, I can not reveal the reason. However, Mr. Logan is already aware of my issue and all he did was write me a cryptic response. I certainly hope his response was the truth. If you have not yet read any of these three series, you truly do not know what you are missing. Great books with amazing characters involved in amazing stories. Thank you Patrick Logan for such wonderful stories and the time spent enjoying them. To quote the author, you keep writing them and I will keep reading them!

Too short and story too fast...like it needed all wrapped up and done with and out of the way. Not like the preceding books. Sorry I spent money on it.

I love the Damien Drake stories.

I have really gotten into reading about this PI and am so glad he didn't get killed off. I hope if there is more about him his ending is good because I think at heart he is a good person and we always want the good guys to win.

Have read all of the Drake series, stayed up late many nights to finish them. Truly enjoyed each book on it's won and the whole series. Each character a delight. I am working my way through the other series based on the Drake characters.Err

So again truly remarkable WELL written. Thank You for your wonderfully story Was so very shocked about so many mothers who abuse and the killing of their own children. You don,t really hear about it. I myself went through severe depression after the birth of my first child but never abuse my but I also had the help of my mother. I did not have the support of my husband which were longer married support from the men is also very critical and when there is not ugly stuff happens I am so very proud to be the mother of two successfully adults that I raised on my own one services at the Pentagon and the other an engineer with no drugs or drinking problems. Great read , but some woman should have never had children, my heart goes out the the children and the families, do not understand how you could hurt your own children, sad sad sad and omg the women who tortured their babies, I hope they see bad stuff in prison, !!!!!!

I cringe at some of the horrific acts carried out at the hands of mothers. This series had been able to find so many stories that seem to have been forgotten or went under the radar because of some other breaking news story. These lives deserve to be remembered.

I like the book it has a lot of different stories in it. well worth the money it cost.

The authors did some good research into some extremely sad cases. My hope in reading such stories, is that we all do a better of looking out for each other, and that we find ways to intervene before such tragedies occur.

The book had spelling and grammatical errors that was annoying. The thing that noticed is child killer stories are repeat from previous book. Otherwise it was a worthy read.
