About the Author

WILL OSBORNE and MARY POPE OSBORNE have been married for a number of years and live in northwestern Connecticut with their three dogs, Joey, Mr. Bezo, and Little Bear.   Mary is the author of over one hundred books for children, including novels, picture books, biographies, and retellings of fairy tales and world mythologies. Will has worked for many years in the theater as an actor, director, and playwright. Together he and Mary have coauthored two books of Greek mythology and eight Magic Tree House® Fact Trackers. Will has also written a multimedia planetarium show, Magic Tree House Space Mission, and is cocreator with Randy Courts of Magic Tree House: The Musical, a full-scale Broadway-style family musical based on Christmas in Camelot.   SAL MURDOCCA has illustrated more than 200 children's trade and text books. He is also a librettist for children's opera, a video artist, an avid runner, hiker, and bicyclist, and a teacher of children's illustration at the Parsons School of Design. My 7 year old son is obsessed with the Titanic & his favorite books are Magic Tree House so this was a no brainer for me! He is able to read it on his own for the most part only needed occasional help with a few words. It's the same length as the other MTH books. It has fun facts as well as some good pictures. Overall a great book & purchase!

The Magic Tree House fact Tracker #7: Titanic was a wonderful Christmas gift this year for my 9 year grand-daughter.We all shared watching the actual movie of "The Titanic", and she loved it. Her words were "Awesome".So,.. I sent this to her for Christmas. Mom and Dad said that she loves it, and picks the book up a lot.She took it to school for show and tell. These Magic Tree House books are wonderful.It is so great for children to enjoy reading books,.. and especially this time, after seeing the movie,..she was thrilledto get this for Christmas. A great gift.

This was a gift for a young child fascinated by the Titanic. He loved this book and wil probably be encouraged to go into naval engineering because of it!

Motherland is the story of Fern Schumer Chapman and her mother Edith Westerveld and their trip back to Germany in 1990. Edith Westerveld was 12 years old in 1938 when her parents sent her to the United States to get away from the worsening situation for the Jews of Germany. Her older sister Betty had already been sent to the United States the year before. Edith had never dealt with having to leave her family, but in 1990 she and her daughter made the trip, I think mostly to come to terms with her past and to try and heal from it. I think she also felt the trip would help her relationship with her daughter which had always been difficult. Much of the book is basically an explanation of how the war affected Edith, and as a result, how it continued to affect Fern too. In a way, this was kind of a psychological book, but also a mystery with lots of secrets beneath the surface. I personally love books like this, because reading about the relationship between mother and daughter helps me understand the relationship between myself and my own mother. Sadly, most of Edith's family perished in the Holocaust, but the trip did help the relationship with her daughter and also helped her relationship with her brand new granddaughter. This was definitely a five star book for me, I wish the book was a bit longer.

I believe that this book is a much needed story so that we never forget those lost in the Holocaust and those who survived. I know some survivors and their story needs to continue to be told in fiction and non-fiction. Motherland Beyond the Holocaust is a book which is totally plausible in the history and the relationship of different generations . Leo Bretholz died this week , his mission was to make sure that people never forget and never repeat the history of the Holocaust. This book gives me an understanding of the variety of emotions affecting German people following World War II; and for many years following. My father emigrated in 1923 after serving in World War I for Germany. He never wanted to return to his homeland. From my point of view he struggled with being proud to be German, yet ashamed due to the atrocities committed in World War II. I think many people of German background feel guilt and shame even though they lived in another country at the time or either lived in Germany and did not participate, some putting themselves into denial about the holocaust.

I read this for our book club. It was good, but I have read others that I have enjoyed more. I'm not sure enjoyed is quite the correct word when speaking of the Holocaust. I have read others that have been more intense as far as the way it is written and more detailed with relationships, etc.

Great book. Easy to read and interesting.

I had seen the story of the author's Mother on a tv show called Lost and Found. It touched my heart, so I set out to find the books about this woman.BEAUTIFULLY written story..... Should be a MUST READ in every High School class stuying the Holocaust!

I had begun this book and put it down--to pick it up again was a very good idea. This author has a very readable style. A great book to read if you wantto know about the Holocaust and beyond--just like the title says--it says it all.

Fern Schumer tells a lovely story that will ring true for all who read it.

I love this date book for several reasons. I have used other nature centered planners for over 20 years, but will purchase Llewellyn's book in the future. Here are the things I like about it:The size is more compact.It has a nice spiral binding.The paper is not shiny. This was always an issue for me with other books. I look forward to writing in this one.The extra reading material is excellent. I have enjoyed the articles that I have read so far.It's a great date book that I am very excited to use! I would definitely recommend it and, as I said before, will be buying them for years to come!

I've been buying these for several years, and find the writing in them a pleasing break from the daily grind. While not a practitioner of the craft, I find the writing inspiring nonetheless, and some day I may try some of the food recipes. . . .

I think the datebook is overall cute and useful, but, despite the peaceful image on the front of the woman in harmony with nature and other animals, the book is full of references to violence against animals, including hunting recipes, super disgusting. will not be purchasing again next year

I gave two friends cast iron dutch ovens last Christmas. I ordered this cookbook to go with the dutch oven so they could learn the art of "cowboy cooking". I was quite surprised when the tiny shipping package arrived with both books inside. The cookbook can fit in the palm of your hand...be sure to have reading glasses at the ready when it's time to cook!

A great little cookbook, but read the size measurements, it's a very small book; pocket book.

The book was smaller than I thought in terms of size. While there are not that many recipes the ones that there are look good and authentic. Looking forward to making some of them. Yes, I would recommend this book. Pete

This is a pretty good little cookbook. It's small but it contains some really good recipes. It also has some neat cowboy lore to go along with the recipes.

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HOW TINY THE BOOK( IT DOESN'T COME CLOSE TO A BOOK) IS WHICH MAKES THE PRINT TINY.

These are tiny pocket books.
