Wow, I have to say Raold & Eva's story was truly a wonderful tale. This is book two in the series and it was just a good as the first one. This is the story of Konal 's brother, Roald. He is now Jarl. Konal was the heroe from book 1.Eventhough, this story was short in length it did not feel like it was short. It flowed exceptionally well. There was never a lull in the story so kudos to this author. I have read some of her Highlander stories, but the Viking stories draw me in so much more so, than the others.The description from the author is sufficient, no need to go into more. I would not want to reveal any spoilers. The only thing that was not to my liking was the model on the cover. Eventhough, he had dark hair his facial features were not pleasant. His body, yes....his face no.I look forward to the next book in this series and hopefully it comes out sooner rather than later.

I read book 1 and then 3, not realizing I skipped 2 until I was a way into book 3 and decided to keep going. In book 1 and 3 I didn't care for the h until near then end, but not in this one. I loved the h and H from the start. I loved her spunk, kindness and caring heart.There is lovemaking, mildly descriptive, but with passion, because I did feel a connection with both of our main character's.There is some violence, who have to deal with a religion that is with other gods, but took awhile to get use to. The author doesn't tell us if this was the Vikings and Sami belief, or fiction.There isn't a cliffhanger, but it does end abruptly. I would have liked an epilogue too.I am not going into the premise of the story as many have explained it. It is unique, and my favorite of the 2 others I've read of the series. (ljb)

I love medieval romances, and this one fit the bill! I also like Viking lore and this had a bit as well. I would have liked to read a bit more about the female MC’s brother and mother, but that’s just me. I like a lot of back story. This is the second book in the series and I will probably go back and read the first and then the rest. I highly recommend it!

What a wonderful story of 2 different people with different beliefs. I love vikings so the story of Roald and Eva didn't disappoint me at all. Read it right through, it kept my interest. Very heartwarming. As always Violetta's books make you feel like you are right there with the characters!!

I couldn't wait for this 2nd book in the Viking Fury series. I didn't think I would like Roald. But shhhh, so far my favorite. Violetta Rand is the Goddess of Viking stories. She brings you into their world. You see, smell and feel like you are right there with Roald and Eva. Don't miss out on this AMAZING story. I very highly recommend this book !!!!!!!

The hate,envy and love of different regions of a vikings land. The well researched story of what ignorance and fear can become wben passed from father to his heirs. Well written and an enjoyable read.

I liked the strong hero and heroine in this love story in which both confront obstacles within and without themselves. I do wish the story would have been longer as I enjoyed it. I look forward to more from this author.

This was a good sequel. It began right at the point where the first left off. Though it would have been nice to know what the "mystery illness" was. A bit suspicious and reaching. But all in all, a good story.

 I've received a few request for the review of this artbook and now it's finally here.The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road is a huge 176-page hardcover artbook that measures 16 inches diagonally across.This book features the art and making of the film. In terms of break down, I would say it's 50-50 art and photography. The art consists of storyboards, story scene paintings, character and vehicle design. The photography are of film stills, behind the scenes shots and those to highlight certain aspect, such as close ups on the different vehicles. The photos are fantastic also because they are really high res where you can see lots of details and well composed like film art.The artworks are beautiful with a nice textural feel to them. I'm not sure how they are created but majority is definitely not digital painting, more like pencils, pastels, and those grainy medium, and some paintings also. Some drawings actually reminded me of Moebius' art because of the level of detail rendered.So what's featured exactly?Furiosa and the wives, Immortan Joe, Coma the Doof Warrior, Miss Giddy, Nux and the many other characters. Vehicles are the highlight also and we have the War Rig, Gigahorse, Big Foot and various other pursuit vehicles. The vehicle designs are really amazing. Overall, there's this really gritty steampunk look to everything and everything seems to work well together visually.The commentary included talks about the filming process, the characters, story plot at time, vehicles, building stuff, the staging and even some nostalgia from the first few Mad Max films. I'm a little confused by the bad reviews for this book. I thought there was plenty of art and development. Yes, there are a lot of photos, but I'm just as interested in seeing the "art" of putting together vehicles and set pieces as I am in storyboards and concept art. This is a beautiful volume with lots of info about how the movie was made, as well as character and vehicle concept design. I thought it was great and well worth the money.

As a coffee table book or bit of promotion material it's not bad at all but as an actual art book I found it a bit wanting. It gives more of a general overview of the characters and features, with ample photographs, more than it does delve into the art and production design of a film decades in the making.One would imagine that a project with such a long and storied production cycle with such intricate and fantastic visuals would have an archive of art showing its progression and some of that is what I was hoping for.It's not a bad product, but don't expect anything in-depth.

For many reasons.I have quite a few "art of" books dating back many years.The point of buying these books is to get a better look at something you don't necessarily get to see in the movie.With that being said, this is essentially a "movie stills" book with the occasional rendering.The 2 pages of Furiosas arm and costume are what I was hoping for for most of the book. This is not the case.This book essentially story board renderings with a LOT of movie clips.So for those interested in a behind the scenes look and production shots and the actual art that went into the models and costume designs and what not, this is not the book for you.If you really just want pictures from the movie with some drawings serving as the page backdrops, you've found what you are looking for.

Thus remains the un-clarity of whom his captives are. What do they want for/from him? Apparently the captors were Syrian Rebels (whom he did want to meet and connect with via their side of the war to begin with, though that not happening with this group). To sell him to another group? Mr. Alpeyrie went through these questions, knowing that special forces (he has duel citizenship with France and U.S.A) were not going to break down his door any time soon. But, the story moves along and he finds whom he can bet on and whom he can't for his captors. He has time to characterize them, as well as to study his surroundings, once allowed outdoor privileges, if ever the chance of escape.Of course he was freed or else he could not have told his story. But that was quite an unusual way.I think you will be surprised as to how his life continues on as a war photographer (I was).I recommend this book to you for learning more about kidnappings on foreign soil. I hope a lot of journalists know about this story before trusting the wrong people while covering war-torn countries such as in Syria. But again, thank God there are those HEROS, who do report for us!This is the way in which we learn 'the intricate details' about another nation that is so foreign and a foe to ours, that is very rarely covered in news stories.Books like these give me a handle on how my government handles hostel nation crisis's i.e. humanitarian issues, what they bomb, boots on uncharted ground, refugee issues, and what happens between our countries. It's one of the issues I think of when preparing to vote for those in Washington. Great book to learn from.

Alpeyrie does a phenomenal job of providing details on the mental and physical anguish he went through. Alpeyrie allows himself to be vulnerable in his writing and provides intimate details of what one goes through in such a traumatic event. Even more impressive, after researching more about him, is that he clearly did not let this take over his life. He has continued to travel and continue his career as a war photographer. Highly recommend.

It is a very personnal story of 81 days of captivity in Syria by a world renowned photographer who has covered over the years many war zones: Nepal, Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria.It is a story of survival while keeping your dignity as a person and building a relationship with your tormentors that eventually brings understanding and a degree of respect.

There is so much to say about the this real life harrowing struggle I am not sure where to even began.Jonathan Alpeyrie job is what most photography dream of but very few have the courage to do.Jonahtan Alpeyrie story is or about bring a captive guest than prisoner. He wasn't beaten, or torture but the stress of not knowing what was going to happen had to been torture enough. He is very open about the fact it could have been much worse and he understands he was lucky even blessed that it wasn't.He was able to take a unknown very frightening time in his life and bring humor into by giving his captor's names. He writes about meaningful relationship he developed with some of his captors and still keeps in contact with them.As readers read this book you wish to have had pictures to be able to better understand the events during his time in Syria. Many times I found it difficult to understand what Jonathan was describing.Jonathan has many strong feelings about the political events in the middle east that might not appeal to all readers but he has some very strong points I feel everyone needs to look at and question.In the end what I found this story having me looking for answers to my question.
