In 2014 I found out I had 2 autoimmune diseases - Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Celiac Disease. I was 37, a mom of 2, and could barely get off the couch. I was not living at all, just existing. I learned about the Autoimmune Protocol and tried it, figuring I had nothing to lose. A short few months later I felt better than I had in over 10 years! I had my life back, and that's a gift that can't be overlooked in any way. I proceeded to eat Paleo for several years, still feeling great, until this past winter when life just got in the way and I started eating mainly just gluten-free for convenience. Then I got the worst flare of my Hashimoto's that I've had and I knew something had to change. So I went back onto the Autoimmune Protocol and now I'm 45 days in and feel freakin FANTASTIC again. Seriously, this diet works. Yes, autoimmune disease can be caused by a mixture of genetics, environment, diet and lifestyle, but if you clean up the diet and lifestyle piece that you have a good chance of putting your disease(s) into remission and/or getting rid of symptoms.With all that, there are just a small number of books out there with recipes for this protocol. And 45 days in, I've tried them all :-) I was excited to check this one out and when I got it I was excited to see a bunch of new things to try out. It's a nice, broad cookbook. Not too specialized, so you get breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and condiment options. And it's pretty family friendly too which is good since even though I'm the only one in our house doing this, I still make dinners for my husband and kids that are compliant, just so we don't need to make 2 dinners. Having delicious meals that everyone will eat is key to me to avoid overwhelm. I immediately made the Honey Lime Chicken, Sweet Potato Gratin, a salad with the Shallot Vinagarette, and the Rosemary and Thyme Focaccia for dinner after I got the book (yes, that was a lot, but I was excited). Everything was delicious and everyone in the fam gobbled it on up, so that's a winner for me.I'm looking forward to trying out more recipes from this book in the weeks to come!

I purchased this cookbook, along with the Simply French Paleo from Mrs. Van Tiggelen, after Michelle Spring of ThrivingonPaleo.com recommended them. I absolutely love them both. Very pretty format, beautiful pictures, easy and very delicious recipes. There are no hard to find ingredients. I am the primary cook in my house and and I am the one with the autoimmune issues. My husband and both elderly parents have loved the food as well. If you have autoimmune issues, this book with fill your belly and your won't realize that you're "missing" other foods. I have purchased several (6 total) other cookbooks on AIP and Mrs. Van Tiggelen's books are the ones that I have used almost exclusively.

My husband was recently diagnosed with what the naturopath calls borderline Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The doctor recommended supplements and dietary changes. It’s my good fortune to know Sophie, a friend and neighbor, who healed her Hashimoto’s with diet. These recipes are nutrient dense, delicious and easy to make! We especially enjoy the turkey-veggie skillet, maple bacon patties, cream of parsnip soup, honey lime chicken with peach salsa and my husband's favorite, Tex-Mex marinated steak. The Gut-Healing Turmeric gummies are a whimsical addition to the cookbook! We’re both feeling great and well-nourished.

I normally don't write reviews very often but this cookbook is amazing! I've made the rosemary and thyme focaccia, and it's as great as everyone is saying. The recipes are exciting and don't rely on a lot of cauliflower and banana.

My wife was recently diagnosed with RA and she has elected to fight this with diet instead of medications. This is a great way to get introduced to the new nutrition. This book is spot on for the good and bad foods and the explanations of why.As Sophia says, once your taste buds get used to the new way of eating it is really easy to get into it. The recipes are easy to follow. I just made the focaccia bread and it tastes great. The extra bonus is when cooking is smells like an Italian Pizzaria. Cant beat the price, everything to get started. Try the book you wont be disappointed.Lee

Love this cookbook! The recipes are so easy which is perfect for anyone starting the Autoimmune paleo protocol. It’s also great for anyone wanting a clean and healthier lifestyle!

Though I've only made a handful of recipes, they've all been really good! Since I've been on a healing diet, I've been eating salads nearly every day. I love salad, but I need more variety (and hot food). I suspect this cookbook will be a good resource for "beyond simple" AIP recipes, especially since it offers a variety of creative salad recipes. The soups I've made are delicious, the fennel "hummus" was yummy, and the foccacia was ah-mazing! My bread-loving hubby keeps asking for more. The recipes are simple, accessible, and delicious.

AIP can be overwhelming! I love that the information about the protocol is condensed and more manageable. I wish the font were larger—that’s a publishing choice, though. I also love the extra notes about storing leftovers, etc.
